Today I went out to my local Best buy and purchased the World Wrestling Entertainment Hulk Hogan Ultimate Anthology 3 disk DVD set. From the previews I watched on WWE television I was really excited. I thought we were going to get some juicy controversy and conflict that has followed Hulk Hogan through out his career. Maybe one or two of the wrestlers who sat down and were interviewed would give us some dirt on the legend. Sadly enough, for me anyway, this DVD set was not like the Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior but more the Self Promotion of the egomaniac that is Hulk Hogan. On the first DVD it takes us back to Hulks early days in the AWA and WWWF. Matches with likes of Nick Bokwinkle and the late great Andre the Giant. We also see some of his feuds with Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorf and Rowdy Roddy Piper. Classics in my mind.

Disk two is much of the same old thing, Hulk Hogan matches from the early and mid 90's. His feud with Randy Savage the Ultimate Warrior, Ric Flair, The Undertaker, Sid Justice, Sgt. Slaughter and more. Disk 3 once again the same thing. Hulk Hogan matches from his WCW days and finally a few of his match from his return and of course the story that led up to it all. In my personal opinion BORING! Oh and lets not forget about the extras! The extras are loaded with some of Hogan's "greatest matches and feuds" Or could be said loaded with his massive winning streak. In fact, the only match's on there he didn't win were with the Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania and with the Rock at Wrestlemania

The people WWE choose to interview were just as big of phony kiss ass's as this so called Ultimate Anthology. Personally I would have liked for the WWE to have contacted Randy "Macho man" Savage and allowed him to talk openly about his experience with Hogan. I would have also liked to of heard Ric Flair dig into Hogan a little about their old WCW days. But of course this did not happen, and everyone said how much of a legend he is "which he is" don't get me wrong but that's not all he is.

Pros 1. Some of the great matches from old. 2. Hogan gets put over as a legend and the biggest star in wrestling, as he rightfully deserves.

Cons. 1. See pros 2 2. Not enough background dirt. Nothing controversial that would keep my male soap opera mind glued to the DVD. 3. Edited interviews.

Overall I would recommend this DVD to wrestling fans and especially Hulk Hogan marks. Just don't expect anything more than a tribute to Hulk Hogan when you buy this DVD set.
