I am sharing tips from a book I reviewed in 2005, while being the Insurance Host at Bella - The Voice for Women on the Web.

The author is a 31 year veteran of the insurance business and has seven offices, seventeen employees and writes over $12,000,000 in preminum. The author sent me a copy of his book and I thanked him.

The author has been broke in the business and he became a multimillionaire in the business. This is not a SALES book.

Bruce E. Cook writes: "He wished he had read this book 30 years ago; it would have saved him literally millions of dollars.:....Aloha Insurance Services, Inc., Kailua Kona, HI

How Do You Know IF You Should Read This Book?

If you own or operate an Independent Insurance Agency.

The author's first outlined his ideas on an airplane flight, May 3, 1999.

This is a story of an Independent Insurance Agency, Western Agency, Inc., that started from scratch on December 15, 1976 in Minot, North Dakota. North Dakota's ecomony is primarily dependent on the income of their farmers. It was in those years that the author grew Western Agency Inc. from -0- to $11,700,000 in premium. They do not write workment's compensation insurance of North Dakota.

The author shares in his book that he had run out of credit at the bank and borrowed money from relatives to stay in business.

The author has been nominated for U.S. Professional Insurance Agents Association (PIA) Agent of the year for N. Dakota in 1996 and is past president of the N. Dakota PIA. He has had an interesting ride.

A long the way, he has made every mistake that can be made in the operation of an Independent Insurance Agency.

As Independent Agents they have far more flexibility how they advertise, sell their products, and how they pick companies to insure their clients.

He was involved in putting on several seminars and schools "survival of the small Agent."

IF you are in any business, there are many ideas that you can use.

Chuck Tompkins is the author of The Insurance Wars.
