The Liberhan Commission has got yet another extension, the third this year only, with the Government giving it two more months to complete its inquiry into the circumstances that led to the demolition of the Babri mosque in Ayodhya.

The term of the Commission, headed by retired Justice Manmohan Singh Liberhan, had ended on 31st March this year, and was extended for three months till 30th June 2007, with a clear direction that it should submit its report either on or before that date.

The term of the 14-year old panel has been again extended till 31st August this time, an official release said.

The panel was appointed within a fortnight of the demolition of the structure at the disputed site on 6th December 1992 to inquire into the circumstances that led to the incident.
