Colombian rebels have released a videotape of seven kidnapped hostages, some of whom have been held for at least nine years.

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, released the video Tuesday. It showed seven police officers and soldiers being held.

In the video, the hostages pleaded for the Colombian government to negotiate with the rebels for their lives.

It is not clear when the video was made, but it was released just days after the deaths of 11 state lawmakers who were kidnapped by the rebel group. The lawmakers were held captive for more than five years. Rebels say the lawmakers died in a crossfire during combat with government troops.

Talks between the government and rebels have stalled over a rebel demand for a demilitarized safe haven. President Alvaro Uribe has said such a move would allow FARC to regroup its trafficking in drugs and weapons.

In the video released Tuesday, one hostage confirms that he was in a camp with captured former presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt. She was abducted five years ago with her assistant, Clara Rojas.
