Are you one of the many who have been hit hard by the housing crises? Is your mortgage in jeopardy? Do you feel that foreclosure is the only way out? Are you at odds as to what to do and how to save your home? Are you looking for a solution, but just do not know what do to or where to start? Please take a step back and know that any confusion and fear that you are experiencing is very normal. The crisis was unexpected and the chances are you did not foresee such drastic changes in your life. Many people are feeling exactly the same way as you are feeling right now, but there is something you can do about it.
Firstly, while most people will take a club and beat themselves up for the predicament they may be in now, you can take more pro-active steps at finding solutions and even possible opportunities that your “dilemma” may be presenting.
Take a step back and assess where you are at right now. Let go of your past expectations. By hanging onto these, you will not be able to move forward. The tide has changed and if you do not change with it and quickly, you stand to lose what you have just by hanging onto old ideas and expectations. I feel that if approached differently you can turn this around and turn this into an opportunity or at the very least to come out of this situation without losing too much if anything at all.
So please set past expectations aside and get off the treadmill of blame, victimhood “what ifs” and decide to do something active about your situation right now. I am going to suggest you be bold and put a stop to the self-defeating voice in your head and TAKE ACTION NOW! There is no time like the present to change your situation around and make it work for you. I challenge you not to wait until the morning, but take up the challenge and start today.
Don’t worry about not knowing everything or going about this perfectly. Just start. Once you start looking at solutions you can always make changes along the way as you gather more information and become more knowledgeable about your situation. The idea is to take action. It is much easier to take action. There really is no point in wallowing in the situation now. I am sure you have done your fair share of that and that is fine, but any more of that will keep you stuck and in danger of losing what you have worked so hard for. If you are resisting taking charge there are many reasons for this. It might be because you do not know:
HOW to start
WHAT to do
WHO to speak to
Alternatively you may be:
Feeling overwhelmed
Lacking motivation,
Paralyzed by fear
Here are some strategies that will help you right now to save yourself and to save your home:
Accept what has happened. That does not mean you have to like it, but when you accept what has happened. You stand a far better chance of unlocking your fear.
Become very clear on where you stand. Get clear on this.
Look at what you have to lose or to gain.
Entertain alternatives. (Seek out-of-the box type solutions)
Ask yourself how you can use this situation to benefit yourself and your family.
Moving forward may mean leaving some things behind – what could that be?
Look at the bigger picture. How do you see your life in 1, 2 or 5 years time? What is needed right now to get there by using your present circumstances?
Once again one of the best strategies to cope with overwhelm is to find as much information as possible. Information will empower you. The more you know, the more you will recognize possible solutions. When you have all the information and have done all you can for now, trust in yourself! Trust that no matter what happens to you, you will be able to handle it. Think of all the things that you have handled in your lifetime up until now. You made it possible. Think about it – what is the very worst thing that could happen?
In summary here is a 4 step plan that is essential for you to take charge of the situation right now:
You need to DECIDE to do something.
You must be BE WILLING to do whatever it takes.
You have to COMMIT to the process.
It is imperative to ACT – TAKE ACTION!
Lastly get support from the right people. Seek expert help. You do not need to go through this on your own. If you are stuck and need help in moving forward right now and finding the best possible solutions for your home think of talking to a financial expert, a coach, the bank, a property guru or anyone else you feel may be the right person to speak to. Get help and support in finding solutions that you may be completely aware of. In your support!
