The LG KG800 is one of the very original phones that are released from time to time. Nicknamed "the LG Chocolate", the LG KG800 is dark brown, almost black with a nice gloss finish and silver details. This is a statement of it's originality in a market dominated by pink. It would be far fetched to say that it looks like a chocolate; it is truly an eye-catching mobile phone.
The Chocolate is a mysterious looking sliding phone as it is dark with a dark screen and only the silver button reveals its purpose. The full keypad is only available when opened and the hidden one is touch sensitive and glows red when in use. Several buttons are placed around the edge to simplify the control of multimedia (MP3, camera and video) and volume. The only minor inconvenience of this fantastic looking phone is the touch sensitive keypad - a little to sensitive and it takes a bit to get use to it.
The video camera and 1.3 megapixel camera (with flash) together with the high quality display make "the Chocolate" well suited for capturing special moments. Other options like the MP3 player with its wide range of supported formats the headset (this plugs into the charging port) with the inline remote control for the music ad to the ease of use and comfort. The feature list doesn't stop here: wireless Bluetooth connectivity and USB are supported, and there are 128 MB of memory (but no memory card option). The LG KG800 can also be used as a mass storage device with specific software to enable the drag and drop function of photos, videos and tracks between it and the computer.
The size and shape of the LG KG800 are superb: 83 grams, slim figure, compact...perfect for your handbag. There is no risk for the phone to be activated as it is sensitive to touch and heat. A drawback of this phone must also be underlined is battery life. You will have to recharge the phone every few days.
"The Chocolate" opens a new line of phones from LG. Their success in Korea where it was first launched (7% of the market) announces a similar success on the UK market in 2006. All the features of this phone make it an excellent choice even though it has a relative high price right now. The price will definitively fall in the future.
